Civility with Controversial Topics

Concerned about recent shifts in political attitudes?  Unsure how to discuss your feelings without alienating your friends and co-workers?

Thursday, March 23, 6 p.m. at Zelick’s Patio, this issue will be explored at a Civility Forum.   Zelick’s is located at 336 West Hopkins, San Marcos.

Two Texas State professors.  Dr. Rebekah Fox and Dr. Ann Burnette of the Communications Department will frame the discussion.

Local citizens have interests and strong opinions on many issues including the San Marcos River, day light savings time, the bathroom bill, women’s access to health care, immigration, and other important topics including upcoming local school board and bond elections.

How we approach topics for information, discussion, and possible compromise is vital to healthy personal relationships and healthy community growth.  Responsible communication is in everyone’s best interest.

The Forum will discuss methods to discuss controversial topics with friends and neighbors and suggest effective tactics.

The Forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Hays County, a non-partisan group of women and men dedicated to voter education and participation.  No political candidate nor any political party is ever endorsed or opposed by the League.
