Texas Department of Economic Development

The Department of Economic Development is responsible for assisting Texas communities and businesses in developing and encouraging economic development. In addition to information on various programs offered in and by the state, the site includes businesses resources including both technical and financial assistance.  Business startup information and business licences and permits are also included.

Internal Revenue Service

The Internal Revenue Service sponsors workshops to educate people involved in small businesses about their rights and responsibilities as business taxpayers. Some workshops are co-sponsored by other federal agencies and involve state and local taxing bodies. These workshops are held monthly, in most cases, and generally are free. The IRS web site includes a Small Business Corner with information for small businesses.
